A musher asked us plainly: "show the females' heats in the training calendar, over a scheduled period, every five to seven months, editable in dates and length". Done.
What changes for you
On an intact female's sheet, a "Set the heat rhythm" link. There you enter:
- the gap between two heats, in months;
- their length, in days;
- if needed, the date of the next one, moved by hand.
The next heat then shows on the sheet, on the pack list and on the dashboard. As soon as you record the real heat, it replaces the prediction — nothing to delete.
On the outings calendar (Stats, and History on the phone), a small pink bar under each day concerned: solid for a recorded heat, dashed for a predicted one. Tap a day: the females are named, with "(predicted)" when it is one.
On the plan, each week touched carries the same bar, and the selected week reads "♀ Heat: Aurora (predicted), Kira". Only the females attached to the objective show there. The printable plan calendar carries them too.
Who sees it
Your kennel's members, and only them. None of this appears on a public page.
What it does not do
- It does not change your plan. No load, no rest day is moved by a predicted heat. It is a landmark for you, not an instruction to the calculation.
- It does not guess. Without a history (at least two recorded heats) or a set rhythm, no heat is predicted. An invented date would be worse than no date.
- Nothing during a litter. From mating to the litter being closed, weaning included, no heat is predicted; the next one resumes after. A heat already recorded stays visible.
- No reminder. The app does not warn you when a predicted heat approaches.
- A spayed female no longer has predicted heats. Her history stays in her health record.
Choices that are not obvious
- No imposed "6 months". Many Nordic females have a single heat a year. "6 months" is only the value offered when you open the setting; without your say-so, nothing is computed from it.
- A bar, not a dot. We first planned a pink dot. On screen it looked like a team colour. A bar looks like no team dot, and the days of one heat form a band.
- The gap is set in months. You think "every six months", not "every 183 days". The rhythm learned from your history still counts in days.
