Until now, to say on the phone that a heat was over, you had to open the entry with "Edit" and set an end date there. The website had a button. Now the phone has one too.
What changes for you
- In a dog's health log, an entry that is still open carries its button, left of "Edit": "End heat", "End treatment", "Mark resolved" for an injury.
- You're asked for a date: today by default, never before the entry started. Save, and it's done.
- Once closed, the entry no longer offers the button: there is nothing left to close.
What others see
After the sync, the end date shows for the whole kennel, on the website and on the phones. What it triggers follows: a female is no longer "in heat", a finished treatment stops capping the plan, a resolved injury frees the rest days it imposed.
What it doesn't do
- It touches nothing else in the entry. A treatment's dosage, an injury's rest days, your notes stay as they are.
- Only an injury gets resolved. An illness or any other health event has no rest window to close; it only keeps "Edit".
- It doesn't reopen anything. A closed entry offers no button; changing an end date still goes through "Edit".
- Not for everyone: as on the website, the action is for those who can write the health log — owner, handler, vet.
Choices made against the obvious
- A button that writes one thing only. "Edit" can already set an end date, and we could have stopped there. But "Edit" rewrites the whole entry, and that path has already erased a dosage and reopened an injury. The button sends the end date alone.
- Today by default. You usually close something the day it ends. A past date is still possible, never one before the start.
- It works offline too — like any health-log entry: the end date goes out as soon as the network is back. If the same entry was already closed elsewhere and the phone has received it, it says so; otherwise the last date sent is the one that counts.
