On 25 September, a four-dog run started with two dogs at lead and two recorded at swing. They were at wheel. Until now nothing could fix that: the wrong place stayed in « Places on the line » and in those two dogs' load.
What changes for you
- « Correct the places », next to « Correct the team »: on the website (detail of an outing or a race) and on the phone (run review).
- Every moment of the run can be corrected: the start, then each change made on the trail, with its kilometre.
- An impossible line is named at once — no leader, no wheel dog, three dogs on one row — and saving stays closed while it is.
- The load follows: a wheel dog pulls more than a leader; after the correction, every dog of the run has its load recomputed.
- On the phone, even without signal: the correction is kept and goes out at the next sync.
- Four dogs start two in front, two behind. For a line composed without usual places, the app now fills lead and wheel before opening a swing row. Swing stays possible from three dogs: you open it.
What others see
Nothing more than before. Only the kennel owner and handlers can correct a place; members see the corrected team, as they saw the other one.
What it does not do
- It does not change who ran. Adding a forgotten dog or removing one hitched by mistake is still « Correct the team ».
- It does not add or remove a change on the trail. You correct what was recorded, not what was not.
- The start stays at kilometre 0, and a change stays between the previous one and the next.
These are not « not yet »: a correction that changed the dogs or invented a change would no longer correct the run, it would rewrite it.
Choices made against the obvious
- Always a wheel dog from two dogs on. A two-dog line with both at lead, or four dogs with no wheel, is no longer accepted — neither at the start nor in a correction. The dog closest to the sled is, by definition, the wheel dog. Consequence: during a run, your only wheel dog can no longer leave wheel unless another takes its place.
- A correction goes through one single door, the same for the website and the phone. So an old copy of a run kept on a phone can never overwrite your correction.
