You edited a session, and the plan still belonged to the generator. A grey chip said "Manually edited plan", next to "Regenerate" buttons on almost every banner, and the first regeneration erased your edits.
You can now say, once: this plan is mine.
What changes
Under the objective's title, a two-position selector says who runs the plan: "Adjusted by MushMate", the starting setting, or "In my hands". One click to switch either way, with no confirmation.
In your hands:
- MushMate no longer regenerates this plan, and no longer proposes changes to it. No screen offers to regenerate it.
- Alerts stay. A dog injured since the plan, a young-dog cap exceeded, an actual load above the plan, a changed young-dog regime: the banner shows as before. Its button no longer says "Regenerate", it says "Edit the plan".
- "Save" saves. Editing the objective, the season or a milestone no longer rewrites the plan, and no longer asks you the question.
- Closing a day no longer triggers a realigned plan proposal. On the web, the session that was on it is removed, as before; on the phone, the day closes and the session stays in the plan — moving or removing it from "Edit the plan" is up to you.
The plan editor was reworked at the same time, for every plan:
- Distance is changed on the session's row. In "Edit" mode, each session carries a field: type 12 instead of 15, and it is saved.
- The day is picked by name. "Friday 9 October", no longer a rank from 1 to 7 counted from the start of the plan's week. A day you closed is not offered.
- A new session starts from your week: the first day still free, with the surface and method of the last session. It always started from "day 1, snow, sled".
On the phone
The same selector is on the Objective screen. And the phone now edits the plan: "Actions" menu, "Edit the plan" (owner). One week at a time, the distance on each row, the day by name, adding and deleting a session. Every gesture saves right away, and needs a connection: offline, the screen offers nothing to edit, and says so. If the plan changed elsewhere while you were editing it — on the web, for instance — the phone does not write over it: it asks you to reopen the editor.
When the plan is in your hands, the "Edit the plan" button is also under the status sentence, without going through the menu.
What others see
Members of your kennel see an "In my hands" chip on the objective, and the sentence that says what it changes. Only the kennel owner flips the selector and edits the plan. A vet in the kennel, who can regenerate a plan adjusted by MushMate, can no longer do so on a plan in your hands.
None of this leaves the kennel.
What it doesn't do
- MushMate doesn't rebalance a plan in your hands. A distance you shorten is not carried over to another day, and the following weeks don't adjust.
- The planned load of an edited session is not recomputed. The projected form and the "load above the plan" banner still read the load the engine computed for the original session; a session you add counts for zero. The more you edit the plan, the further those two readings drift from it. This is a known limit, logged to be fixed.
- Switching back to "Adjusted by MushMate" doesn't put the plan right. It stays as it is; you regenerate it afterwards, if you want to.
- The mode doesn't create a plan. It takes over an existing one: generate one first.
- Copying a week, adding or removing one: not in this version.
Four choices made against the obvious
The choice belongs to the objective, not to the plan. The plan changes version at every regeneration, every restore, every accepted proposal. A setting stored on the plan was lost at the first of these — that is what happened to "manually edited".
No confirmation, either way. Entering destroys nothing. Neither does leaving: we could have regenerated the plan when switching back to "Adjusted by MushMate", and we don't. The only gesture that erases your edits, regenerating, keeps its own question.
Alerts are not hidden. A plan you run is not a plan MushMate stops watching. An injured dog is still flagged; what changes is who handles what comes next.
The objective's settings all stay editable. We considered folding away the ones that only feed the generator. Some still feed the alerts, and sorting them one by one would have created cases to explain. A sentence at the top of the Configuration tab says what is true of all of them: saving doesn't rewrite the plan.
