In MushMate, what concerns your dogs is shared with your kennel. There is now one exception: the sessions you import from Strava.
What changes for you
Your Strava imports are visible only to you. You find them everywhere, as before: in Traces, on the session page, in your dogs' logbook, the calendar, your stats and your phone.
Under the title of each Strava session, the device that recorded it: "Garmin Forerunner 955", "Coros Pace 3"… whatever Strava reports. The import review screen shows it for each proposed activity too.
Wherever a dog's load or form counts a session from a Garmin watch, a line under the chart says so: "Derived in part from Garmin device-sourced data." It appears on the dog's page, the pack, the dashboard, the stats and the plan, and only when it is true for the dogs shown.
What others see, and what they no longer see
The other members of your kennel, the owner included, no longer see anything of your Strava sessions: not in the list, the dogs' logbook, the calendar, their stats or their phone. What belongs to a session disappears for them too: its dogs, weather and gear.
Only one thing still counts them: your dogs' training load. It is the same for the whole team; otherwise the plan would be wrong for those who do not see your sessions.
The public mileage leaderboards no longer count any Strava session.
If you leave the kennel, or delete your account, your Strava sessions are no longer visible to anyone there. Your dogs' load still counts them.
Why: since June 1, 2026, Strava's agreement with applications such as MushMate only allows Strava data to be shown to the person who provided it. It makes no exception for a team or a coach. And Strava's policy requires naming Garmin wherever data from a Garmin device is shown.
What this feature does not do
- No sharing with the kennel, even if you want it. We are asking Strava whether a musher may choose to share a session with their team. Until the answer is yes, nothing opens.
- No removal from the load. Your Strava sessions count for your dogs; removing them would make the whole team's plan wrong.
- No Garmin logo. The device name, as text, is enough for Garmin's rules.
- Nothing changes for a GPX file exported from your watch: it is not Strava data, and the session stays shared with your kennel.
- No more duplicate warning between teammates. If another member has already imported an outing from the same day from Strava, the import screen can no longer flag it as "probable": you cannot see it. Pick your dogs accordingly.
Three choices made against the obvious
Even the kennel owner does not see a handler's Strava session. Strava's rule is about the person, not their role: it makes no exception, and neither do we.
The load keeps the sessions nobody else sees. Removing them everywhere would have been simpler. But your dogs' plan would have become wrong, and different depending on who looks at it.
Everyone's device, not just Garmin's. Only Garmin requires it; one rule is clearer than one more exception.
