In MushMate, you define the kennel's chores — feeding at 8:00 and 18:00, cleaning the pens, walking a dog — and your team checks them off through the day. But the "Today's tasks" list only showed what was left to do. A checked chore disappeared. A forgotten chore disappeared too, the next day. In the evening, nobody could tell whether the 8:00 meal had been given, or by whom.
What changes for you
On the web, Team › Tasks opens on the tracking of the last 7 days. One row per chore and time of day, one column per day. Each cell says:
- who did it, by their initials (the key below the table gives the names);
- to do, for today;
- ✕, for a past day when nobody checked it;
- –, when the chore wasn't scheduled that day.
The "Previous week" and "Next week" links let you go back in time.
On the phone, a "Task tracking" tile appears on the Today screen, next to Messages. It shows the same thing, day by day, most recent first. It needs a connection.
What your teammates see
The whole team sees the tracking: owner, handlers, vet, guides. It's a handover tool. Whoever takes the evening shift sees whether the morning meal was given, without having to call anyone. The Viewer role doesn't see it, just as it already doesn't see the Tasks tab.
Two things are never shown: the time a chore was checked, and a figure per person. The tracking shows facts (who did what, on which day), not a score.
A missed click can be caught up. The dogs were fed but nobody checked it off? Over the last 7 days, clicking a ✕ (or "to do") cell checks it, after a confirmation. The owner picks who did it; other members check it in their own name. A check made by mistake is undone the same way, by the person it's credited to or by the owner. Beyond 7 days, nothing can be changed: memory of who did what fades faster than the table.
What task tracking doesn't do
These limits are deliberate. They aren't features put off until later.
- It doesn't warn you. A forgotten chore sends no notification and no alert on the home page. You look it up.
- It doesn't count. No percentage, no ranking between teammates.
- It doesn't flag late check-offs. A chore checked after the fact looks like any other. We can't honestly tell when a check was made: one from a phone without a connection arrives late too.
- It ignores deactivated chores. A chore you've deactivated disappears from the tracking, as it disappears from today's list. Its check-offs stay on record.
Two choices that may surprise you
No time. Showing the time of the check-off might seem like the least we could do. But on the phone, a chore checked without a connection (at the back of the kennel, in deep cold) waits for the connection to come back before it's sent. The recorded time is then the sending time, sometimes several hours after the fact. A wrong time is worse than no time.
No ✕ before a chore's last edit. MushMate only keeps a chore's current definition. If you move the 8:00 meal to 7:30 on Tuesday, it can't know what was scheduled on Monday. And a ✕ says someone didn't do their job: we only show it when we're sure. Right after an edit, the days before therefore show "–" rather than ✕. Check-offs already made stay visible, including at the old time.
