Until now, the phone could pick a rig template but never prepare one: that took the website. If your kennel had none, the departure picker said "No rig template for this kennel." and stopped there. There is now a screen for preparing them: Manage › Resources › Rig templates.
What you do
See. The gallery lists each team and its rig templates in alphabetical order, and for each one "3 dogs · Gangline" followed by the dogs row by row: "Lead: Tukka · Swing: Vaïa · Wheel: Freya".
Prepare. "Prepare a rig template", at the end of the list (or on the row of a team that has none yet). With a single team that has dogs the editor opens straight away; otherwise, "For which team?" — a team without dogs is greyed out there, with the reason. The editor is the very Line screen of the departure: every dog of the team starts on the bench, a tap puts one at its usual place, another tap moves or swaps it, "Gangline | Fan hitch" switches the hitch, "Undo" takes back the last move. "Save · N dogs" stays off until the line is legal, and the sentence above says what is missing ("Place 3 more dogs: the whole team goes in", "A dog is missing at lead"). The name is asked at the end.
Edit. Tap the rig template in the gallery: its line opens, the name is filled in.
Delete. "⋯", then "Delete this rig template": the confirmation names it.
From the departure. If the kennel has no rig template, the picker behind "Compose differently" carries "Prepare a rig template"; coming back, the "Rig template" button is there, without reopening the assistant.
What others see, and what they never see
Every member sees the gallery. Only the owner and handlers write; a viewer, a vet or a guide read the same lines, with no button at all, and the screen tells them who can. A rig template never leaves the kennel: not the public page, not the leaderboard, not a shared link shows it.
It is the same object as on the website — the same function, the same rules: what you prepare on the phone opens on the website, and the other way round. And it never touches an outing already recorded: a rig template prepares the next line, not the past.
What it does not do
No writing offline. Saving and deleting need the network; without it the screen says "Offline — nothing was saved" and keeps what you typed. Composing and reading work anywhere. That is not an oversight: a rig template carries the whole team, and if the team changes before the network is back, the database would refuse it — rather than queue a template that would fail when you are no longer there, the screen says so at once. Teams behave the same way.
No removing a dog from one rig template only. Today the database rule wants every dog of the team in every rig template: a resting, retired, loaned or "Light activities" dog is therefore in it too, with its caption under its circle and a note. It is the departure that leaves it on the bench, as before. Changing that rule is a decision for the product owner, not an oversight — it is written down, with what it would change, in the register.
Not yet, and it is in the register: choosing the default sled or quad of a rig template (the phone never erases it: editing a rig template here keeps the equipment set on the website), its PDF, its drawing in the gallery.
Nothing is placed by itself at departure. The line always opens on your last departure; the rig template is one tap that you decide.
Three choices we made
One editor: the departure's. A team is composed on the phone like an outing line, with the same moves, the same bench, the same fan. No second screen to learn — and what you see while preparing is what you will find at departure.
"Save" is off, and it says why — instead of refusing afterwards. The database has rules (a lead, a wheel, two dogs per row at most, every dog of the team); the phone judges them beforehand, and does not let you tap a button that would fail. A one-dog team cannot make a line (it would need a lead and a wheel): the screen says "pick the fan hitch".
A resting dog is placed without a question here. At departure, tapping a resting dog asks "take it anyway?". Not here: you are preparing a line, not leaving, and today's rest is not next week's.
