What you will do

Record the supplements your dogs receive: what you give, to whom, how much and until when. MushMate turns this into each dog's year, the day to restock and, when a season comes back, an offer to restart it.

What you need

  • The phone, with the new app. Supplements are not on the website yet.
  • A connection. Supplements are read and saved online; offline, the section says so and nothing is saved.
  • The owner role to create, edit or stop a supplement, or to record a restock. A kennel member reads supplements without changing anything.

Step by step

Choose the kind: ongoing or a season

  • Ongoing (filled circle ●): given all year, with no end date. For example glucosamine for the joints. You enter the stock and MushMate works out when it will run out.
  • A season (empty square □): a start and an end. For example omega-3 seaweed from October to March. A season has no stock to follow.

The kind is chosen at creation and does not change: to switch from a season to ongoing, stop the supplement and create a new one.

Create a supplement

  1. Open the dog's page and scroll to the "Supplements" section, after the ration.
  2. Tap "New supplement", at the bottom of the section.
  3. "Supplement": pick one from the catalogue, or "Other supplement…" to type the name yourself. The catalogue starts with Glucosamine + MSM (ongoing) and omega-3 seaweed (a season, October to March): a catalogue choice fills in its kind and dates.
  4. "Kind": "Ongoing" or "A season".
  5. "For whom": this dog, "A team" (then which one) or "Whole kennel".
  6. "Start", and for a season "End".
  7. The dosage: "Dose", "Unit" (mg, g, ml…), "Frequency" (per day or per week) and "Administration" (oral, topical, injection or other method).
  8. "Stock" (ongoing only): the quantity you have, in the dose unit. It gives the restock date.
  9. "Save".

Record a restock

  1. On the card of an ongoing supplement, tap "Restocked".
  2. "New stock": enter the quantity you now have, in the dose unit, and confirm. The gauge fills up and the restock date moves later.

Edit or stop a supplement

  1. Tap "⋯" on the card, then "Edit" or "Stop".
  2. "Edit" changes the dosage, the dates and the stock. The kind and "for whom" are shown but cannot be changed.
  3. "Stop" asks for confirmation: the course ends today and moves to the history. Nothing is deleted.

Restart a season

  1. When a season comes back, a "Restart …?" banner appears at the top of the section, with its dates. It appears if you gave it in an earlier year, or if it is a catalogue season.
  2. Tap "Prepare": the entry screen opens already filled in, with this year's dates. For a season you gave before, it reuses your dosage and "for whom" from last time. For a catalogue season, it uses the catalogue values.
  3. Check, then "Save". Until you save, no supplement is created.

What you should see

  • One card per supplement that covers the dog, whether it is for the dog alone, for one of its teams or for the whole kennel. It shows the kind (● "Ongoing" or □ "Seasonal"), for whom, the dosage in plain words, and a season's dates.
  • On an ongoing supplement, a stock gauge and "Restock around …", with the days left. Once the stock runs out, the card shows "Out of stock since …".
  • "{dog}'s year", under the cards: twelve months with today marked by a line. An ongoing supplement runs to the edge, a season has a start and an end, a suggested restart is dashed.
  • "History", at the top of the section: finished supplements, read-only.
  • On the launcher, under the things to check today, the reminders for the next two weeks: a season that starts, a season that ends, a stock to buy again.

What others see

  • Your kennel members see the same cards, the same year and the same history, with no button to change anything.
  • No one outside the kennel. Supplements stay private, like the dog's page.

What it does not do

  • A restart creates nothing on its own. It prepares the screen, and you save.
  • An ongoing supplement for a team or the kennel follows the team's dogs: a dog that joins it gets it too. A season freezes its dogs at creation: a dog added later is not covered.
  • A season has no restock reminder: only ongoing supplements follow a stock.
  • The old "Supplements" text field of the ration stays in place. What is written there is not converted.
  • No supplements on the website yet, and none offline on the phone.

If something goes wrong

  • "Nothing was saved: only the kennel owner manages supplements.": your role is a member's. Ask the owner.
  • "A season needs an end date." or "The end must come after the start.": fix the dates.
  • "No dog in this team: nothing to freeze for the season.": add dogs to the team first, or choose another "for whom".
  • The restock date looks wrong: check that the stock is in the same unit as the dose (grams with a dose in grams, for example), and that the frequency is per day or per week as intended.
  • "Supplements could not be loaded.": check the connection, then reopen the dog's page.
