What you will do
You are buying or adopting a puppy — or an adult dog — from a breeder who uses MushMate. This page tells you what you see, in order, from the litter's page to the dog in your own MushMate. Breeder: you can send it to your buyers.
What you need
- To look at a litter and write to the breeder: nothing, not even an account.
- To receive the logbook: a MushMate account and a kennel you own (the link offers to create them along the way). The logbook arrives in your kennel, on the web as on your phone.
- The breeder's link, which they send you themselves: MushMate sends it to nobody.
Step by step
- Look at the litter. The breeder gives you the address of their litter's page: the parents, their available puppies, and a form at the bottom.

- Write to them: your name, your e-mail, your message, "Send". You read "Thanks, your message has been sent to the breeder."; they reply by e-mail.
- When the puppy is yours, open the handover link the breeder sends you. The page opens without an account: "{name}'s logbook — {breeder} is handing it over to you in MushMate."

- Create your account, then your kennel ("Create my account", or "I already have an account"). The link brings you back to this page at each step.
- Fill in the form: the kennel receiving the puppy (the one you own), the puppy's name at your place, its sex if it isn't filled in, its breed type (Sprint, Distance or Mixed) and its baseline weight (pre-filled from its dam and its last weighing; with no weighing, type a weight).

- Click "Receive {name}". The puppy arrives in your pack, with its logbook.
- For an adult dog, the link is
/accueil-chien/…: same thing, plus its career — number of runs and races, kilometres — and, before accepting, the injuries still open and the treatments in progress.
What you should see
- Your puppy in the pack, with its name, birth date, dam and sire, its vaccines, dewormings and visits, its weighings and its first photo; for an adult dog, its whole logbook and career.
- Nothing changed on the breeder's side: they keep their logbook. You receive a copy.
What others see
- The breeder only sees the handover date and the name of the kennel that received the puppy — "nothing else". The form tells you before you accept: "{breeder} will see the name of the kennel that receives {name}, and the date — nothing else."
- Nobody else sees the link or the handover: the page isn't indexed by search engines.
What it does not do
- Never the breeder's notes, the price, the deposit, the other buyers' contact details or the inquiries: all that stays with them. For an adult dog, never either the costs, the insurance, the GPS tracks, the other dogs of its runs or its Strava runs.
- A link works only once, for 30 days: if it has expired, been withdrawn or already accepted, the page says "This handover link is no longer valid" ("This link is no longer valid" for an adult dog), without any name.
- Only a kennel's owner can receive: another member reads "Only a kennel's owner can receive a dog into it. Pass this link on to them."
- No purchase: MushMate handles neither the price nor the payment.
If something goes wrong
- "This handover link is no longer valid": it has already been used, was withdrawn, has expired, or is incomplete. Ask the breeder for a new link: each link lasts 30 days and works only once.
- "This link can't be opened right now. Try again in a few minutes.": the page couldn't read the link; that isn't proof that it is out of date.
- "To receive a dog, first create your kennel. You'll come back here afterwards.": you are signed in without a kennel; "Create my kennel", then the page brings you back here.
- "A dog in this kennel already carries this puppy's microchip.": the microchip number already exists at your place; check that it isn't the same dog.
- "Enter a baseline weight (in kg, above 0).": with no weighing at the breeder's, the weight isn't pre-filled; type one, you'll change it once it has grown.
- The dog arrives with a wrong name or weight: edit them on its sheet.
Going further
- Handing over a puppy's or a dog's logbook: the same gesture, seen from the breeder's side.
- Your dogs: where the dog arrives, with its own follow-up.
