Five tabs, one place
Team brings together everything that organizes the kennel's collective life. The sidebar offers five tabs — "Members", "Tasks", "Messages", "Protocols" and "Notes". This page stays open to every role: it's in the "Members" tab, for instance, that anyone — Vet, Guide or Viewer included — sets their own absences. Only the "Tasks" tab disappears from the bar for a Viewer role.
This page covers what you do once you're on the team: tasks, messages, protocols, availability and notes. To invite someone or change their role, see Getting started with MushMate: the roles (Owner, Handler, Vet, Viewer, Guide) and the invite mechanics are covered there.
Members: who's here, who's out
The "Members" tab opens on the kennel's roster. The owner also finds the "Invite a teammate" form and "Pending invitations" here; every other role sees the roster alone.
Below it, "My notifications" offers a personal checkbox, "Stop notifying me for this kennel": it turns off e-mail reminders (vaccinations, heats, whelping, chores) for you only — your teammates keep receiving them. The day's reminders are sent at 07:10, so ticking the box between 07:00 and 07:10 still lets the morning mail through.
Further down, "Availability" shows a weekly grid, twelve weeks at a time ("Previous" / "Next" links to move the window): green for available, red for out that week. Each member sets their own absence — reason (Vacation, Sick, Unavailable, Other), start and end dates, an optional note. The owner can set or edit anyone's absence; every other role, only their own.
Tasks: recurring chores
The "Tasks" tab lists the kennel's recurring or one-off chore templates — feed, walk, clean, or a custom type with its own label — each with its frequency (every day, certain days of the week, or once on a given date), optional times of day, the dog it concerns (or the whole kennel), and the teammates it's assigned to. Only the owner creates, edits, deactivates or deletes a template; every other role sees it read-only — and a Viewer role doesn't see this tab at all.
What these templates produce day to day — the checklist of today's due chores — isn't shown here but on the dashboard: Team → Tasks manages only the templates behind that list, not the list itself.
Messages: instructions and urgent notices
The "Messages" tab is the team's message board. Everyone except a Viewer role can post — an optional title, a body, a priority (Normal, Important, Urgent) and a recipient ("Whole team" or one specific teammate, excluding Viewers). A message pinned by the owner stays at the top. The author of a message can edit or delete it; the owner can do so for any message.
An "Urgent" message stands out with a red border and asks for an explicit confirmation: the targeted recipient — or, for a message to everyone, whoever reacts first — sees a "Got it" button. Until someone confirms, the message shows "Awaiting confirmation".
Protocols: the kennel's procedures
The "Protocols" tab gathers the kennel's written procedures, grouped by category (Feeding, Cleaning, Care, Other). Everyone reads them; only the owner and a Vet role can create or edit one — every other role sees a note in place of the "New protocol" button: "Only the owner and the vet can create or edit protocols."
The owner and a Vet role can also import an existing document — a PDF or photos of paper sheets, up to 25 MB — instead of retyping: MushMate suggests a list of protocols found in the document, to uncheck as needed before saving the selection. A Word file isn't read directly; save it as a PDF first.
Notes: the team's scratchpad
The last tab, "Notes", is an intentional scratchpad: a word, optionally some photos, nothing to sort or search, and no editing afterward. Any member — Viewer included — can write one; the note's author or the owner can delete it. A note can't be made of photos alone: a minimum of text is required.
On mobile
From "Today" on the phone, Messages, Protocols and Notes are reachable by every role, with the same read/write rules as on the web — a Viewer role reads without posting there too. Notes also works offline: a note added without a network connection goes out the next time one is back. Messages and Protocols need the network. Today's due-chore checklist shows up directly on "Today"; creating or editing a task template stays owner-only, from Settings.
The "Members" tab itself — invites, roles, availability, notifications — has no mobile equivalent: Settings shows the roster there, read-only, nothing more.
