What you will do

Bring your dogs into MushMate — one by one, or the whole pack at once — and, the day a dog leaves, remove it without losing its history.

What you need

  • A kennel. See Creating your account and your kennel.
  • For each dog: its name is enough. The birth date, baseline weight, sex, type and size feed the load model; the precise breed, coat, microchip and history can be added later.
  • The owner role for the import of a pack from a file.

Step by step

Adding a dog

  1. Open Kennel › Dogs and click "Add a dog".
  2. Fill in the form: name, birth date, baseline weight (kg), sex, type (Sprint, Distance or Mixed), size. A "Spayed" (or "Neutered") box follows the sex you picked.
  3. "More options" folds away the rest: precise breed, coat, completed ultra seasons, injury or drop history, "guest dog, loaned here by another kennel", electronic microchip and its location.
  4. "Save". The dog appears on its card in Dogs: photo, age, breed, groups and the state of the day.

Importing the whole pack

  1. In Dogs, open the "Import" menu: it offers "Import a roster", "Import health record" and "Import a result".
  2. "Import a roster" (owner) reads a CSV or Excel file and creates several dogs at once, with a preview and duplicate detection before you confirm.
  3. "Import health record" reads an existing record — photo, PDF or CSV: vaccines, treatments, visits, injuries, weighings, body condition — to create a new dog or complete a dog already in the pack.

Removing a dog

  1. Open the dog's sheet. If the dog has no recorded data yet, a simple deletion is possible.
  2. Otherwise, the deletion is refused and the screen says how many history items stand in the way. Choose "Remove from the team…": retired, deceased, sold, given or rehomed. The dog is archived with its whole history.
  3. "Reactivate" brings it back into the pack whenever you want.

What you should see

  • One card per dog in Dogs, and the count ("1 dog · load and state of the day").
  • Separate lists at the bottom of the page: "Loaned-out dogs" and "Former dogs" (retired, deceased, sold, given or rehomed, with their departure date).
  • After an import, the preview lists what will be created and what already exists, before you confirm.

What others see

  • The members of your kennel see the dogs according to their role. Nobody outside the kennel: a dog's sheet is private.
  • A dog that left keeps its history at your place; if it leaves with its logbook to another MushMate, see Handing over the logbook.

What it does not do

  • No data is compulsory to save a dog: a name is enough, the rest gets completed.
  • An import doesn't guess: it shows a preview, you confirm; nothing is created before.
  • Permanent deletion exists ("Force permanent deletion") but erases the dog and its history: prefer "Remove from the team…" unless it was a data-entry mistake.
  • A roster import isn't open to every role: it is reserved to the owner.

If something goes wrong

  • The deletion is refused: the dog already has sessions, a goal or care, and the screen says how many history items stand in the way; use "Remove from the team…".
  • A duplicate: the import preview flags it before you confirm; to complete a dog already present rather than create a second one, go through "Import health record".
  • You got the sex wrong: changing a dog's biological sex asks for an explicit confirmation, distinct from its neutering status.
  • A dog from another kennel (loaned here): tick "guest dog" in "More options".

Going further

  • Creating a goal: harness these dogs to a season.
  • Your dogs: the complete reference (states of the day, filters, load and summary views).
