What you will do
Bring into MushMate runs recorded elsewhere — Strava, Garmin Connect, adidas Running, or any GPX file —, one by one or by batch.
What you need
- A kennel, and the owner or handler role to import a batch ("Import outings").
- The GPX file of the run, or the
.ziparchive of GPX files from a full export. Files are read on your device: they are never sent, MushMate only sends the calculated session.
Step by step
-
Choose the route by source.
Your runs are in… The simplest route What arrives MushMate (capture on the phone) Nothing to do Everything: track, stops, dogs, load Strava Settings › Integrations › Connect Strava The session and its track, visible to you alone (Strava's rule) Garmin Connect One GPX file per run, from the Garmin website The session and its track, visible to the kennel adidas Running Your account export (a .zip archive) The whole history, with tracks, visible to the kennel -
For Strava, open Settings › Integrations, Connect Strava, then "Review and import activities". A session imported from Strava is only visible to you.
-
For Garmin, open connect.garmin.com (Garmin exports nothing from the phone app), then Activities, the run, the gear icon, Export to GPX. Repeat for each run. Don't use "Export File" (FIT format: MushMate doesn't read it).
-
For adidas Running, request the export of your whole account on runtastic.com (Account and data › Export data); adidas' e-mail can take several days; download the
.ziparchive. -
Import. One run: in manual entry, "Pre-fill from a GPX file" (website and phone). Several runs or an archive: Traces › "Import outings" (on the phone: at the top of the outings list) — up to 200 files and 100 MB per batch. Tick the runs, choose the batch's team (dogs, surface, activity, intensity, musher) and import; the list stays open for the next batch.
What you should see
- The batch list with one line per run: a run on the same day as an existing session, within 1 km (or as another run of the batch), arrives unticked and marked "Likely duplicate": you decide.
- The imported runs in Traces, with their track, their figures calculated by MushMate (distance, moving time, stops, climb) and, for a Strava import, the device that recorded it.
- For a Strava import, a recap with the "Strava track — visible to you alone" block.
What others see
- The kennel's members see runs imported from a file (GPX, adidas archive) like those of a capture.
- A session imported from Strava is only visible to the person who imported it — Strava's rule: the other members see it neither in Traces, nor in the dogs' logbooks, nor in their stats (the dogs' load, however, counts it).
- Nobody outside the kennel, as long as you don't publish a run.
What it does not do
- FIT and TCX formats, and
.gzfiles, can't be read: only GPX and.ziparchives of GPX pass. - A file with no timestamps is a trail, not a run: import it as a trail ("+ Trail" in the Trails tab of Traces).
- A run with no GPS (treadmill, indoors) has no track.
- The figures may differ a little from the original app's: MushMate calculates the distance, moving time, stops and climb itself.
- Apple Health and Health Connect aren't a route: neither adidas Running nor Garmin Connect write their runs' track there.
If something goes wrong
- A dog is "absent from the kennel" on the date of a ticked run: it is named and blocks the import; remove it from the line or pick another dog.
- adidas' "Account and data" menu no longer exists: request a copy of your data from its Contact page — it is your right (GDPR).
- Strava: the archive holds
.gpx.gz,.fit.gz,.tcx.gz: unzip the.gpx.gzfirst; only files ending in.gpxcan be read. - You prefer the file to the Strava connection: the session is then visible to the kennel (export on strava.com: "Export GPX").
